Apple Opens New Lab In Taiwan To Build New Display Technology

“Apple began operating this lab this year in an effort to make their displays thinner, lighter, brighter, and more energy-efficient. Apple also is keen to move to organic light-emitting diodes, which are even thinner and don’t require a backlight, they said. The report claims that Apple is also interested in possibly moving to OLED technology, which corroborates a similar report that surfaced last month.”

The workers who will be responsible for this research come from the former AU Optronics and Qualcomm workers. The decision to develop their own technology on the display part technology will give them the benefit, because Apple  doesn’t have to rely on the third party suppliers, like Samsung, LG, and Sharp.
