Facebook Workers To Drop Their IPhones For Android Phones

It seems that Facebook workers will have to drop their iPhones for Android phones.

According to Wired, Facebook’s chief product officer, Chris Cox is forcing the employees to switch from iPhones to Android. Yesterday, during a briefing with many reports at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California and many reporters who watched it from all over the world via online video, Cox said:

“I am mandating a switch of a whole bunch of my team over to Android, just because people, when left up to their own devices, will often prefer an iPhone.”

While this may sound like a campaign against Apple, it actually is a practical decision. The most popular social network serves more than 1.5 billion people from all around the globe, and most of them use Facebook daily on Android phones.

Cox has a huge team, and what he wants is a good portion of that team to be on the Android platform as it is the most popular mobile platform. That way “they can be reporting bugs and living the same experience that most Facebook users experience today,” Mr. Cox added.

Even though Facebook has so many users already, the goal is to reach even more and as quoted from Wired “to do that, it must understand how things work far from the bubble that is Silicon Valley”.
