What is Safe Mode?

Safe mode is one of Android's special features designed to fix a variety of issues that could pop up, from app incompatibility to configuration problems.

For example, your device overheats. There are various solutions to this problem, and one of them is checking whether one of the third-party apps is causing the issue. That's where Safe mode comes in.

You boot the phone into Safe mode, and if it doesn't overheat, it means one of the third-party apps is creating the problem. After you get this confirmation, you can either remove apps one by one or factory reset the phone.

How to turn off Safe mode?

As mentioned, there are several ways to exit the Safe mode. We'll explain them all. Let's dive in.

Restart your phone

While you may think that exiting Safe mode requires a lot of work, think again. The only thing you need to do to go back to "normal" mode is to restart your phone the usual way.

  • Press and hold the Power button for a couple of seconds
  • Tap Restart

That's it! The phone should reboot normally.

Notification Panel

Another way to turn off Safe mode on Android is through the notification panel. But, keep in mind that not all devices allow this option. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Notification panel by pulling it down from the top of the screen
  • Find the "Safe mode enabled" notification (If you don't see it, it means your device doesn't support the option of turning off Safe mode through the notification panel).
  • Tap the notification
  • Your Android device will restart and boot to normal mode.

Hardware buttons

If for some reason, the previous two methods didn't work, you can use the hardware buttons and exit the Safe mode through the Recovery mode. Here is how to do that:

  • Turn off your smartphone
  • When the phone is turned off, press and hold the Power button and the Volume down button at the same time
  • After a couple of seconds, Recovery mode will open
  • Use the Volume buttons to go to the "Start" option
  • Now press the Power key
  • Your Android device will reboot.

That's it! As promised, all these options are quite simple!
