iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Users Report Poor Picture Quality

The latest Apple’s flagship smartphones, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with tons of cool stuff and enormous price tag. With its latest smartphones, Apple focuses on the photography, but are all of the users happy in the camera department? It doesn’t seem like it. The camera is one of the reasons why some users of the previous iPhone models decided to switch to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, not all of them are satisfied. There have been numerous complaints on the Apple Official Support Communities website. The users complain about the poor picture quality. Many of them said the photos are blurry with the watercolor effect.

The forum thread from October is still very much alive. It has 14 pages at the moment, and users keep reporting the same problem. Many of them shared the photos taken with their devices. At the beginning, it seemed the poor picture quality issue bothered only the owners of iPhone 7 Plus. However, iPhone 7 users complain about the same problem. Many people visited Apple and some got a replacement with the same issue. There are speculations it is the software-related problem. Some iPhone 7 owners upgraded to iOS 10.2 Beta 2, but the photos look the same.

How to fix this?

The number of users reporting this issue keeps increasing, and so far, there are two things that work for some people. Some iPhone 7 users fixed the problem by making some changes in Settings. You may try the same, maybe it will work for you. Go to Settings > Camera, and turn off Optimized storage.

If this does not fix the problem, download a third-party camera app from the App Store. Some people said that once they started using a third-party camera app, they noticed the images look much better. Also, you will get better looking photos by shooting in RAW mode.

Apple needs to address the issue

As I’ve mentioned, the forum threat is very much alive and users hope Apple will address the issue soon. If you have the same issue, make sure to contact Apple or visit one of the Apple Stores to report the problem. We hope that once Apple addresses the issue, a new version of iOS will come with the fix for this problem. When this happens, you will have to upgrade the iPhone to the latest version of iOS, by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
